The 10 pieces are individually numbered - small, but each one meant to make its way somewhere real. Cem Soldos, for us, is also where we finally get to meet, face to face, the people who've been following Limbo from a distance all this time. That's the part we're most looking forward to!
A CANTIGA É UMA ARMA
A special edition piece to celebrate music, and the quiet stubbornness of will. 10 serving platters, one drawing: the bombo and the carnations, made for the 13th edition of Bons Sons.
The idea came from a sound we both grew up with. Before stages and sound systems, it was the drum you'd hear from afar, telling you the festival was starting - and that you'd better not be the last one out the door. It didn't matter which village, north or south: drum, bagpipe, snare, moving through the streets in the procession, the saint's parade, the neighbours already dancing before you'd even left the house. That sound meant something belonged to you too, and that showing up was the only way to claim it.
We drew that same drum here - except in place of drumsticks, we set two carnations. Because there's another calling we carry just as close: the one from 1974, a revolution made with flowers instead of weapons. Growing up, the carnation was never just a flower to us - it was the proof that tenderness can also be a form of courage, that you can call people into the streets without raising a fist. It felt right for the piece that would go to Bons Sons to carry both callings at once.
